Operation Read and Restore:
DePaul Adopts 100 Soldiers!
In Fall 2007, DePaul University Libraries, in partnership with the Office of Mission & Values and the Office of Alumni Relations, will launch Operation R & R.
Our mission will be to engage the DePaul community in collecting reading materials and movies to send to the men and woman serving in the armed forces overseas with ties to DePaul. As a morale support effort, Operation R & R will ensure that those serving in the Gulf and other military outposts overseas know their loved ones and the communities they belong to care about them.
Faculty, staff, students, and alumni are encouraged to submit the names and contact information of immediate family members serving overseas to Operation R&R. We will then contact those service men and women to find out reading material preference, gather and organize books, magazine, and movies, and ship care packages overseas in time for Christmas.
There are three ways to get involved:
1. Submit the names and contact information of family members serving overseas to: libraries @ depaul . edu
2. Donate new books, magazines, DVDs, and iTunes gift cards based on the wish lists received from service men and women
3. Volunteer to assemble the care packages
